What a Summer!

Friday, August 15th, 2014

After a week off following our Toronto season I headed to LA to dance Juliet at the Music Center. It was so nice to be back in California and the audience was fantastic! Then it was back home and back to work getting ready to perform at the Festival des Arts de St. Sauveur in Quebec. I was so happy to be dancing my favourite roles: Giselle, Juliet and my beautiful solo, Being and Nothingness (Part 1), for 3 performances.
Not much holiday time this year but it turned out to be a busy and wonderful summer nonetheless.

Ballet in Cinema

Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013

After a busy March season of Romeo and Juliet and The Four Seasons, I had another exciting premiere. “Ballet’s Greatest Hits”, which features me dancing Giselle, opened in over 200 theatres across the United States on March 31st! It will be playing throughout the month of April too and I am so proud to be a part of this extraordinary production. I can’t wait to finally see it on the big screen!

On the road again

Sunday, February 3rd, 2013

What a treat it was to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC for the past 2 weeks. Fabulous theatre and amazing city. I even had over 70 family and friends in attendance at my last show! Now we are in Ottawa to perform Romeo and Juliet. So excited for my show on Saturday night(Feb 2)! From Red Queen to Juliet in 7 days.

Juliet debut #2

Monday, November 21st, 2011

This past Friday night, I made my second debut as Juliet. After nearly 4 months of working on this new production it all finally came together at the performance. I couldn’t believe how relaxed I felt as I ran onto the stage for my first entrance. I had such a wonderful time dancing this new version(and boy, there sure is a LOT of dancing!!). Brand new full length ballets are rare, especially one with such an unforgettable story so it was a real pleasure to get to explore Juliet once more. It was kind of like dancing it again for the very first time…….

Slowly but surely…

Sunday, November 6th, 2011

This past week I did my first work through of the ballet and all in all, it went pretty well! Even though there are still sections that need to be completed, my choreography is finally finished. It was good to put it all together in sequence and get a small taste of what it’s going to be like on stage. Next step is adding the costumes and scenery once we get into the theatre next week. It’s going to take at least a few more rehearsals before I’m completely ready but I know I’ll feel calmer once I get on stage. Luckily there are more shows than usual this season and I’ll get the opportunity to dance it on Nov. 18,24&26…..

Countdown to Juliet

Sunday, October 30th, 2011

With only two and a half weeks to go before the big premiere, there is still lots of choreography left to learn. I think we have all come to the conclusion that the ballet won’t be finished until just before the curtain goes up! So far, there is an abundance of incredibly demanding choreography and I anticipate there will be much more before it’s all done. But for now, it’s time to check up on my costumes. I have four or five different dresses that I wear throughout the ballet and they all must fit me like a glove. This often requires numerous fittings so it’s important to get started early.

Back to Juliet

Sunday, October 16th, 2011

Fresh from a great 3 weeks tour out west, I’m back to work rehearsing our new Romeo and Juliet. Alexei Ratmansky returns to finish the ballet and after creating for 5 weeks this summer, there is still quite a bit to do. Having danced Cranko’s Juliet for so many years, I am anxious to see what this new production will be like in the end. I hope it is just as moving and rewarding to dance… Time will tell!

Juliet in Ottawa

Monday, April 13th, 2009

After an all too brief winter season, I’m so glad to have another opportunity to dance Romeo and Juliet.  The company is touring to Ottawa this week and I will dance on Friday night with a brand new Romeo, Aleksandar Antonijevic.  We have been partners for 17 years now and this is one of the only ballets that we have not experienced together.  I’m looking forward to what new and exciting things the performance will bring out in us both.

Romeo and Juliet

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

I am so excited about one of my favourite ballets this season, Romeo and Juliet. I will dance the opening night on March 11th (then again on the 14th) with Jason Reilly as my Romeo and he’ll arrive from Stuttgart next week, just in time to rehearse for a few days before the shows. We danced this ballet for the first time together a few years ago and he is not only an extraordinary partner but I feel we have a real chemistry together. I’m so thrilled to have him back as my Romeo again.
